Ever have a hard time picking out something for your dad for special holidays? Well, we did some of the legwork for you! We interviewed a handful ofrealdadsto find out what sort of gifts they'd actually love to get on their big day.

Here's what they said:

THE OUTDOORSY DAD

• Fishing Gear - There's a wide variety of gifts in this category! Anything from lures & bobbers to a new hat to keep the sun out of his eyes to a fresh fishing rod are all great options in a variety of price ranges. If he loves a good dad joke you could get him a small tackle box, load it with sweet or salty snacks and label it "Snackle Box" so he doesn't get hungry on his guy's day out.
• Hiking Equipment - Hiking can be an amazing hobby but it's tough on maturing joints. Help him out by getting him some new hiking boots that'll support his ankles, insoles with arch support to keep his feet from getting sore or hiking poles to keep the pressure off of his lower back and knees. Another great option is a backpack with a frame to support all the weight he'll carry on slightly longer hikes.

THE WEEKEND WARRIOR

• Tools - For this one we got responses ranging from weed whackers to power drills so any tool that's not in his tool shed will probably put a huge smile on his face. Does he already have a ton of these? Try grabbing him some extra batteries for those power tools... one is never enough!
• Yard Equipment - Dads love to keep a nice looking lawn so you might want to opt for items he can use to keep up curb appeal. Shovels and rakes can always use replacing especially if his are worn and rusty. One item that several of our dad's agreed would be useful was the "pocket hose." This hose stows away nice and small in the garage or shed but when you hook it up to a water source it becomes a full-size garden hose.

THE FOODIE FATHER

If he's the chef of the house, he's going to love these picks! 

• Bacon Candle - We mentioned this one for the Chill Dude (see above) but we think it'll definitely work here too! Any dad who loves to grill is going to love the smoky bacon scent of this candle PLUS the customizable dog tag he'll find inside with your heartfelt massage!
• Grill Tools - Speaking of grill masters, grill accessories are always useful and inexpensive. Here are a few ideas: regular or stuffed burger press, a grill light, propane tank fuel gauge, grilling apron, or grill cleaning tools.
• Dinner - If he loves to eat but doesn't love to cook you could always get the ingredients for his favorite meal and make it right at home or easier yet, treat him to a nice dinner out!

THE TECH SAVVY PAPA

• Phone Gadgets - This could be anything from a charging station for his nightstand to a professional looking leather phone case. One must-have item that dads don't think to buy themselves... a tempered glass screen protector. You know that one might come in handy and they work great!
• 3D Printers - If he's one of the many who've gotten a 3D printer in the last few years he's sure to need things like build plates or tweezers and other tools. One thing you know he can always use is more filament to make more cool things.
• Headphones - Wireless headphones are all the rage right now and they're one of the most requested items from the dads we surveyed whether they considered themselves "techy" or not.

THE CAR GUY

Does your dad treat his car like it's one of the family? Then these ideas might be for him!

• Car wash- you could always give dad the day off from his chores and wash his pride and joy for him. Just be careful that you use products that are going to be gentle on the paint and other interior/exterior finishes.
• Attention to Detail - if your dad is particular about his car wash and would prefer to do it himself you can always put together a car care basket with things like car soaps & waxes, tire shine, microfiber towels and interior detailing products with some brushes to clean all the hard to reach places around vents and hidden corners.
