How to Decorate with Candles to Improve Your Feng Shui

Feng Shui promotes appreciation of beauty, balance in life, and tranquility for self. You may believe it’s difficult to decorate with attention to feng shui, but we’re here to tell you that it can be as simple as lighting a candle. The action will transform any space, warming up the energy around you, giving you stress relief from your most hectic days.

Candles can be a very powerful feng shui cure if you know how to use them. Depending on the goal you want to concentrate on, the rest of your planning comes down to what candles to use and where to place them.

Color and shape are some of the first characteristics to consider since each color and shape will represent a different element (same with the candleholder if you use one). Red candles (reputation and fame), orange candles (wisdom and peace), and white candles (heaven and joy) are three of the most important hues in feng shui candles. However, try your best not to dwell on the color you want. The candle may not be your favorite color, but it may be the color you need at this point in your life, so be open-minded in the selection process.

HOT TIP: Candles are the next best thing to fireplaces to generate the energy of the element of Fire. Particularly, red colored candles can light up the Fire in your home more than other colors of wax.

The placement of the candle is one of the most important decisions made in feng shui candles. The feng shui directions of South, Southwest, Northeast, and Center mesh best with candles. Ever heard of a bagua? Don’t worry, most of us haven’t. You’ll learn to love it though because it is a map that helps you evaluate the space you’re using for feng shui. If you follow the guidelines, you’ll find an improved space and life awaiting you, but be careful because a misplaced candle will not provide the intended effect.

The last factor to pay attention to is the material from which the candle is made. For example, if you burn high quality and natural candles, like the premium soy wax blends we use in our Jackpot Candles, in your bedroom for at least 15 minutes before you go to bed, it can considerably shift the energy and contribute to a better sleep. Bedrooms are an ideal place for candles thanks to their association with the Fire feng shui element. And who doesn’t need a better night’s sleep?

You should use care to include all five elements: Fire, Water, Wood, Earth, and Metal. If you have certain elements overpowering others in a space, be sure to balance them out. Remember that balance is part of what you are trying to accomplish, so be sure that each of these elements is represented harmoniously in the room or space you are decorating with candles. Being in harmony with these natural elements is necessary in order to harness feng shui to its full potential using candles.

Here are some simple feng shui candle cures to try out:

ATTAIN ATTENTION:
Place nine (9) red candles in the center portion of the far side of your home. Light the candles once a day during the daylight hours to influence attention and support from others.
BUILD BLISS:
Place seven (7) white candles in the center portion of the right side of your house. Light the candles once a day in the early evening to promote a life of less frustrations and business.
GAIN GOALS:
Have a fireplace? Grab a candle (or several candles) whose color is appropriate for the location of your fireplace and light at least once a week to help to discover a new sense of purpose.
INFLUENCE INSPIRATION:
Place eight (8) blue candles in the near left corner of your house. Light the candles once a day in the evening hours to increase inspiration around you.
PRODUCE  PASSION:
Place two (2) red candles in the far right corner of your home, as well as your bedroom. Make sure they're placed side-by-side to influence intimacy. Light these candles twice every day.
